One of EFB’s flagship initiatives is the annual EFB Summit, hosted each year in a different European city.
The Summit aims to highlight the importance of family businesses and typically brings together around 200 participants, including business leaders, senior policymakers, academics, and media representatives.
Since its launch in 2014, with a keynote speech by Chancellor Angela Merkel, the Summit has featured high-level speakers such as President José Manuel Durão Barroso, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, U.S. Ambassador to the EU Anthony Gardner, Vice-President of the European Commission Jyrki Katainen, and Commissioner Günther H. Oettinger.
In recent years, we have also welcomed Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis, DG GROW Director-General Kerstin Jorna, and MEP Philippe Lamberts. In 2024, Enrico Letta, President of the Jacques Delors Institute, was among the keynote speakers.
The 11th EFB Summit will take place in Lisbon on 13–14 October 2025, in collaboration with our Portuguese member organisation.
