Law No. 13/19 of May 23 2019 approved the new legal regime for foreign citizens in Angola.
This Law has approved new rules that will come into force on July 22, of which we would like to highlight, among others, the following:
In accordance with this Law, the Work Visa is valid for 365 days and is extendable for an equal period of time until the termination of the employment contract that justified it;
Under this new regime, the Short Term Visa allows its holder to stay in the national territory for 10 days, being extendable once for an equal period of time, while the previous law allowed a maximum limit of 14 days;
The Privileged Visa has been replaced by the Investor Visa, which will be granted in Angola by the Migration Authority, allowing its holder to stay in the country for 2 years, being extendable for equal periods of time, in accordance with the cause that justified its grant;
The Ordinary Visa has been replaced by the Tourism Visa, which is now also granted for business prospecting reasons. The Tourism Visa allows its holder to stay in Angola for 30 days and is renewable twice for the same period of time.
The new Law repeals Law No. 2/07 of August 31, 2007 and is expected to enter into force 60 days after its publication, i.e. July 22, 2019.
