Ainda se associa a gestão das EF(Empresas Familiares) a um modelo antiquado, esquecendo-se que a esmagadora maioria das empresas começam a sua existência dessa maneira. A nossa missão é muito simples: contribuir para que as EF pequenas de hoje, possam transformar-se na Heineken, na Peugeot ou na Jerónimo Martins de amanhã.
Para tanto, os maiores desafios que se colocam às EF de hoje são três: a profissionalização da sua gestão, o desenvolvimento de um modelo de “corporate governance” eficaz, moderno e transparente e, finalmente, a questão da sucessão de uma geração para a seguinte.Identificados os desafios, a Associação oferece as soluções – um programa de serviços e formação, através de consultores e de especialistas, nas várias matérias. No plano da intervenção legislativa, a Direcção da Associação das Empresas Familiares escolheu Bruxelas como o centro das suas atenções para levar ao conhecimento das autoridades europeias os aspectos específicos das EF que necessitem de legislação. Ao mesmo tempo, não faria sentido estar a promover legislação de excepção para um sector que é claramente maioritário. Embora não existam estatísticas precisas, estima-se que mais de 70% de todas as empresas tenham uma estrutura e uma propriedade familiar. Assim, o envolvimento da Associação das Empresas Familiares no Grupo de Peritos que a Comissão da UE formou para a aconselhar sobre as EF incidirá exclusivamente sobre aspectos únicos e diferenciadores em relação a outras categorizações de empresas, como as PMEs.
A Associação das Empresas Familiares bater-se-á, de forma alinhada com outras confederações e associações patronais europeias, no sentido de prestigiar as Empresas de Património Familiar que, pelas vicissitudes históricas do século XX, muitas vezes tiveram de adoptar uma postura de discrição, quando não mesmo de defesa, perante ataques vários desde a fiscalidade confiscadora, até à expropriação compulsiva.
As EF do século XXI vão ser o motor de relançamento económico das nossas economias, gerarão emprego e riqueza. Naquilo que a Associação puder ajudar, estará sempre presente. É por isso que vos convido a associarem-se e a apoiarem a Associação das Empresas Familiares.

A: If you have previously set up a “self-directed” individual retirement account (IRA), then you will be able to store alternative assets within your tax-deferred plan, including private placements in venture capital. As with any IRA investment, a self-directed account has built-in, tax-deferred growth– meaning that you would not pay capital gains taxes on the growth of an investment until you are of retirement age and begin to withdraw the funds, presumably at a lower effective tax rate.
A: For individual investors, the SEC tells that an accredited investor is a natural person (as opposed to an organizational entity that may be considered a “legal person”): (1) who owns an individual net worth, or joint net worth with the person’s spouse, that is more than $1 million at the time of investment, excluding the value of the primary residence of such person; OR (2) whose income is more than $200,000 in each of the two most recent years or whose joint income (a spouse included) exceeds $300,000 for those years and has a reasonable expectation of the same income level in the current year.
